VANCOUVER – The B.C. Lions have seen such an encouraging show from two members of the University of North Alabama Lions that the CFL team decided to add a third UNA player – linebacker Mike Johnson, here at the recommendation of defensive tackle Montrell Craft and rush end Dominie Pittman.

“We saw Mike playing, after watching film on Craft and Pittman – and we said, ‘Gee, that guy also flies around,’” explained Neil McEvoy, the Lions player personnel coordinator. “So we put him on our neg list, too.”

Johnson, the NCAA Division II defensive player of the year last season, joined the Lions for his first practice Wednesday, and he didn’t have to think too hard about where to find accommodation after his first shift. He’ll be moving in with Craft and Pittman, two rookie starters on the defensive line in last Sunday’s 25-10 win over Edmonton.
