Golf dominates tournament at DSU

Cleveland, Miss. —  The University of North Alabama golf team opened its 2010 Fall season in style Saturday as the Lions won the Derrall Foreman Invitational by a tournament record 24 strokes. The Lions turned in a two-day total 26-under-par to out-distance host Delta State in the 12-team field.

UNA’s B team finished third at five-over-par.

North Alabama’s Jake Greer won medalist honors with rounds of 66 and 68 for a 10-under-par 134 total. The Lions’ Ty Chandler was second at 135. His total included a tournament record round if 63 on Saturday. Tyler Ekenberg was fourth at 139 and Jace Windom tied for sixth at 142.  Freshman Mason Rogers tied for 45th in his first collegiate event at 155.
