Cross Country teams place 10th in GSC

HOOVER, Ala. — The University of North Alabama cross country teams competed at the 2010 Gulf South Conference championships on November 6 with both the men’s and women’s teams finishing 10th.

In the 11-team men’s event, Jon Ray Russell was the Lions’ top finisher at 51st. He turned in a time of 29:44 for the 8k course. Isaac Joiner finished 52nd (29:52), Casey Parkes 55th (30:06), Zeke Nichols 57th (30:13), Roger Good 59th (30:28), and Ryan Tanner 60th (30:34).
In the women’s 5k race, UNA was 10th in a 14-team field. Hannah Mook led UNA with a time of 20:40, finishing 28th overall. Victoria Acocella finished 51st (21:36), Jamie Rowan 78th (24:14), Carrie Rosser 81st (24:31) and Kalie Sparks 95th (26:24).
Harding won the men’s championship with a total of 24. West Florida was second at 63. Alabama-Huntsville won the women’s race with a 52 total. Harding was second at 68.
