FLORENCE – Officials with the NCAA announced Sunday evening that the University of North Alabama volleyball team qualified for the South Region Tournament. The Lions earned the seventh seed in the region and will play second-seeded West Florida at 2:30 p.m. Thursday on the campus of the University of Tampa.
The post-season bid gives the Lions a Gulf South Conference-leading 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UNA enters the event with a 21-9 record after coming up short in the GSC championship match. The Lions will face West Florida (28-6) for the fourth time this season. The two teams split the regular-season series before the Argonauts used a 3-1 victory to claim the conference title on Saturday in Pensacola.
“It is an honor to be selected to represent the South Region and the Gulf South Conference at the NCAA regional tournament,” said UNA head coach Stephanie Radecki. “Our team and program are excited to have the opportunity to extend our season.”
