North Alabama 77, Henderson State 72

ARKADELPHIA, Ark., – Four players reached double digits in scoring as the University of North Alabama men’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 77-72 road triumph Thursday evening over Henderson State.

Ricky Davison scored a game-high 24 points on eight-of-15 shooting as the Lions held off a late HSU rally for the win. UNA took a 32-31 lead at the break and led by 12 in the opening three minutes of the second half.

The Reddies, however, cut the lead to 64-61 in the final five minutes of play on a layup by Josh French. UNA responded with a pair of free throws by Trent McCant and a three-pointer by Davison to take a 69-61 lead with 4:03 remaining.

HSU was able to make one more push, getting within two at 71-69 at the 2:05 mark. A 6-2 run by the Lions, however, ended the threat and gave UNA a 1-2 record on the season.
