Lions finish season at Regionals

HUNTSVILLE – The University of North Alabama men’s and women’ s cross country teams each had rough outings Saturday at the NCAA South Region Championships at Sharon Johnston Park in Huntsville. The men’s team finished 13th while the UNA women were 15th on the day.

The Lions’ Hirbo Hirbo was the team’s top finisher on the men’s side. The junior from Russellville finished [49th] with a time of 35:12.2 in the 10K race. Rounding out the  Lion runners on the men’s team were Casey Parkes (70th, 37:29.3), Zeke Nichols (73rd, 37:48.7), Isaac Joiner (76th, 38:06.9), Roger Good (79th, 38:22.7), Tanner Ryan (82nd,39:13.9) and Jon Ray Russell (86th, 40:45.7).

Hannah Mook was the top finisher for the UNA women. The senior from Decherd,Tenn., was 45th in the 6K race, logging in a time of 24:55.2.

Victoria Acocella (47th, 24:58.6), Jamie Rowan (86th, 27:40.4), Carrie Rosser (87th, 27:43.1) and Kalie Sparks (99th, 31:47.3) rounded out the women runners for the Lions.

  1. I hold the school record at Garber HS (Essexville, MI)in the 5k (18:06) and am very determined to compete at the next level. My father pitched at UNA in the late 80’s and has nothing but great things to say about UNA. Please send me info. about your CC program & best of luck! Go Lions!!
