FLORENCE — Sanqueeta Meardith was not trying to get to the free-throw line in Tuesday’s home game against Southern Indiana.

Meardith made the most of her opportunities, hitting 15 of 18 free throws and finishing with a career-high 26 points in the Lions’ 78-66 victory.

“Coach told me to attack the basket, so that’s what I did,” Meardith said. “I was looking to score and was not really worried about getting fouled. But when you go hard to the basket you’re going to draw some fouls. I just had to stay focused and make the free throws.”

Meardith got most of her shots in the final five minutes as UNA (4-3) pulled away for the win. She hit 11 of 12 in the final five minutes, including four in a 10-0 UNA run that put the Lions in control.
