Roberts Named National Soccer Player of the Year

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — University of North Alabama junior forward Chloe Roberts was named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year to headline the 2011 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-America Team.

Roberts, now a three-time All-America selection, also joined 12 other student-athletes on an All-America first team that features six repeat honorees.  UNA junior midfielder Nikki Brown of Bognor Regis, England was named second-team All-American for the third straight year, while sophomore forward Jennifer Osmond of Southampton, England, earned honorable mention All-American honors.

Roberts has scored a school-record 76 goals in her three seasons at UNA and has added 42 assists. Brown is UNA’s career assist leader with 44, including 12 this season to go with nine goals. She scored three goals in the Gulf South Conference championship match as UNA claimed its first conference title. Osmond tied Roberts for the team lead in goals this season with 16 and added seven assists.
