Kyle Thornton Named All-American

University of North Alabama senior offensive lineman Kyle Thornton has been named to the  2011 American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches’ All-America Team.

Thornton, a native of Dallas, Texas, is a three-year letterman and two-year starter for the Lions who has helped lead UNA to the NCAA Division II playoffs each of the last three years.

Thornton becomes UNA’s 16th AFCA All-American selection and the first since Will Batson in 2008. Thornton was named All-American by D2football.com, Don Hansen and Daktronics in 2010 and is a two-time All-Gulf South Conference and All-Super Region 2 selection.
