Lions Golf Wins Bishop Classic


FORD CITY, Ala. — Holding a 14-stroke lead entering the final round, the University of North Alabama golf team almost doubled its advantage over the final 18 holes and claimed the 2012 Jim Bishop Toyota Spring Classic title by 26 strokes over second place Wilmington (Del.). UNA’s rounds of 287, 286 and 286 gave the Lions an 859 total, with Wilmington at 885, Huntingdon at 886 and Midwestern State (Texas) at 889. Those teams were followed by Northern Kentucky (891), Missouri-St. Louis (899), Cameron (902), Central Missouri (906), Delta State (911), Tennessee Tech (911), Central Alabama (917), Concord (927), Tampa (933), Wallace State (935), William Carey (941), New Orleans (974) and Martin Methodist (982).
