SOUTHAVEN, MS – The bats came alive in the final inning of Friday’s First Round of the Gulf South Conference Softball Tournament as the University of North Alabama scored four runs to defeat higher seeded University of West Florida, 4-1.

The Lions’ offensive outburst after six scoreless innings was sparked by a double from Summer Wilkerson and a single by Shelby Goodman to load the bases.  A run then scored on an error before a double by Callie Steadman pushed three more runs across the plate.

UNA, the six seed, will face second seeded Alabama-Huntsville at 1:30 p.m. today.
