FLORENCE — UNA introduced Jason Anderson as the new Lions softball coach in a press conference held Thursday afternoon in Flowers Hall.

Anderson, from Houston, Texas, was the head softball coach at Central Baptist College in Conway, Ariz., from 2008 to 2012. Under his leadership, the Mustangs became the 2010 National Christian College Athletic Association national champions. Anderson’s overall record at CBC is 226-38.

“I’m just very excited to become a part of the North Alabama athletic family,” Anderson said at the beginning of the press conference.

Anderson is replacing former Lions coach Jeremy Reece, whose contract was not renewed at the end of the 2012 season. Last season the softball team finished 20-26 overall with a Gulf South Conference record of 8-21.
