University of North Alabama students who voted this week say they don’t want to move the school’s athletic program to NCAA Division I. Of the students who voted, 58 percent said they do not agree with the move, while 42 percent were in favor.
University of North Alabama President Bill Cale said he expects to reach a decision early in 2011 concerning the future of the university’s athletics. UNA Board of Trustees took no action on resolving the issue of a move from Division II to Division I at a quarterly meeting Monday.
FLORENCE — On the day six Arkansas and three Oklahoma schools announced intentions to petition the NCAA to form a new Division II athletic conference, University of North Alabama officials took another step closer to moving to Division I.
