Officials with the NCAA announced Sunday evening that the University of North Alabama volleyball team qualified for the South Region Tournament. The Lions earned the seventh seed in the region and will play second-seeded West Florida at 2:30 p.m. Thursday on the campus of the University of Tampa.
A balanced offensive attack helped the University of North Alabama volleyball team post a 3-0 Gulf South Conference sweep over visiting West Georgia Saturday afternoon in the final regular-season match of the season at Flowers Hall. Three players reached double figures in kills while the Lions hit .330 as a team to improve to 19-8 on the season with an 8-2 mark in GSC play.
North Alabama libero Lauren Greenhill (Jr., 5-8, Florence, Ala.) is the Gulf South Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. The junior averaged 5.4 digs per game (81 total) for the Lions, who went 2-2 in the Regional Crossover at Florida Southern tournament. She had 27 digs against Saint Leo and 23 more against Lynn. Greenhill added seven assists and three service aces.
